  • Working mostly on location in and around Santa Fe, with an inclement weather indoor classroom provided.

  • Wednesdays 1:00 to 4:00 pm - $300.00 per month (months with five wednesdays - $375.00).

    Doug Higgins is known both in America and internationally for his plein air landscape and seascape
    paintings with an emphasis on skillful drawing, the principles of traditional realism and impressionist color
    theory. The subject of numerous articles in national art publications, his landscape, Painting at Smith Cove,
    was featured on the cover of the December, 2007 issue of American Artist magazine. This was
    his second American Artist cover.
    He studied figure drawing, figure painting and picture making at the Frank Reilly School of Art
    and the Art Students League of New York. His book, the Frank Reilly School of Art, has gained
    national and international Attention and is on the publisher's bestseller list.
